Privacy Policy
The short version
The Filter List keeps your data on your device. There are no accounts, no servers, and no ads. The Filter List doesn't collect your personal information, track you, or send your photos anywhere. What you put into the app stays with you.
What The Filter List stores, and where
Everything you add — your assets (Home, Auto, Work, and any categories you create), your filters and their replacement intervals, reminders and notification times, parts and their reference photos, on-hand quantities, SKUs, and replacement history — is saved locally on your iPhone. The Filter List keeps this information on your device: it isn't uploaded to any server and isn't visible to the developer. The only time any of it leaves your iPhone is when you choose to create a backup yourself, which is covered in “Backups and exports” below.
Notifications
The Filter List asks permission to send notifications so it can remind you before each filter is due. Reminder scheduling happens entirely on your device — your filter dates, intervals, and notification preferences never leave your iPhone, and the developer never sees them.
Photos and camera
The Filter List asks permission to use your camera and photo library so you can add reference photos of replacement parts — a picture of the box, the part number, anything that helps you find the right one next time. Those photos are stored on your device as part of your catalog. The Filter List does not upload them, analyze them remotely, or share them.
Backups and exports
The Filter List lets you create a backup of your data whenever you want. This is always optional and always started by you — The Filter List never backs up or exports your data automatically or in the background.
When you create a backup, everything in The Filter List — your assets, filters, reminders, parts, photos, history, and app settings — is gathered into a single backup file. You decide what happens to that file: keep it on your device, save it to your own cloud storage (such as iCloud Drive or another service through the iOS share sheet), or move it to another device. Wherever you choose to put it, that destination belongs to you and is governed by that service's terms and privacy practices, not by The Filter List.
Because you create the backup and choose where it lives, the developer never sees it, receives it, or has access to it. To remove a backup, delete the file from wherever you saved it. Restoring simply reads that file back into The Filter List on your device.
No accounts, no tracking, no analytics, no ads
The Filter List has no sign-up or login. It includes no third-party analytics or advertising tools, sets no tracking identifiers, and shows no ads. Because there's no account and nothing is collected, there's nothing for The Filter List to sell or share — and it doesn't.
Links to other sites
The Filter List may include links to outside websites, such as retailers or replacement-part listings. Some of these may be affiliate links, which means the developer could earn a small commission if you buy something after tapping one — at no extra cost to you. Tapping a link takes you to a third-party site that's governed by its own privacy policy, not this one.
This website
This page is part of a simple, static website. It doesn't use tracking cookies, doesn't run third-party analytics, and doesn't collect personal information from visitors.
Your control over your data
Because everything lives on your device, you're always in control. Deleting a filter removes it; deleting the app removes everything The Filter List has stored. There's no separate request to make of the developer, because the developer never had your data in the first place.
Children's privacy
The Filter List isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Since the app collects no personal information at all, this holds true for users of every age.
Changes to this policy
If The Filter List's data practices ever change — for example, if a future version handles your information in a new way — this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will change to reflect it.
